Notes and Ideas on Things I'm Reading
What influenced this piece? I was originally inspired by the idea of a “commonplace book” which is a way to compile information. My research journal is just one part of my larger commonplace book project, I always have to have a journal handy to write down ideas or notes.
What brought you to write it? I write in my research journal very regularly, some weeks I write in it daily. I find it very helpful to not only spend some time writing things by hand but also to keep my ideas and work fresh in my mind regularly. My research journal is where I am making notes on things I’m reading or writing down ideas for my current research, new research ideas, or anything related to my professional and academic work.
What is your journey? My research journal is an ongoing journal, and, as I mentioned, a part of a larger commonplace book project (I also have a reading journal) and other spaces where I am compiling information and ideas, and pieces of writing.
